Free Konmari Printable Checklist
Marie Kondo and her “Konmari” method of tidying up seem to be all over the place right now! In case you haven’t read her book or seen her new Netflix show, the Konmari method is a way of organizing and decluttering, one category at a time, only keeping what “sparks joy” until your whole house is tidy. Not only is the Konmari method supposed to make your home organized and tidy–but if done correctly, it should STAY that way!
I actually read her book, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, shortly after it was released, in 2015. We happened to be moving at the time, so as I was unpacking I got rid of anything that didn’t “spark joy”. As a naturally messy person, I was surprised that her method actually seemed to work! I got rid of stuff that I didn’t need, like or use and it was SO much easier to stay organized.
The only problem was, that I didn’t complete all five categories. I only finished the clothes and books categories. So now, in 2019, I am back to having a mess and am ready to tackle the Konmari method once again.
If you’ve been around awhile, you probably know that I am a very visual person and am motivated by making and checking off lists! So naturally I made a printable checklist to help make this daunting task a little more fun for myself.
There are a few different checklists out there–but some of them are SO. LONG. which is even more overwhelming for me! I made this one as simple as possible, while trying to include a few reminders in each category. If you don’t need a certain subcategory like “kids” or “pets”, just cross it off; similarly, if you need to add a subcategory, I included lines for that as well.
