Using a Bullet Journal to Track Health & Fitness

2019 marks the fourth year that I have kept a bullet journal, which is by far the longest time that I have ever stuck with a planning system! Explained in the most simple way, a bullet journal is using a plain notebook to create your own planner. I love using a bullet journal because you can customize it to be exactly how you want. You can keep track of important dates, lists, your meal log, your workout schedule, books you’ve read–any and everything–and it is all in one place!

One thing that I have consistently included in my bullet journals are spreads to track my health and fitness journey. I realized that over the years I have experimented with a LOT of different spreads–all having to do with healthy habits, working out or eating well! This post contains my very favorite bullet journal spreads to track health & fitness.

1. Goals & Intentions

Goals and intentions are probably my favorite spreads to create because you know how much I love setting goals! 😉 I have a spread for almost every month from the past 3+ years, but here are a few of my favorites.

2. Meal Logs

I kept meal logs in my bullet journals several different times, especially when I was trying to dial down on my nutrition. Here are a few different spreads I created to help keep track of my macros or what I was eating.

3. Mile trackers

Over the years I have trained for several races, including a half marathon. When I wasn’t training for a specific race, I often tracked my monthly miles in my bullet journal.

4. Weightloss tracker

I’ve seen some really creative weight loss trackers–the one I use is pretty simple. I use a table to track my monthly weight and measurements and then graph my weight on the next page so that I can see it visually.

5. Workout schedule

My all time favorite workout spreads are the ones I created using sticky notes!

6. Monthly Workout Calendars

It is slightly more labor intensive, but creating weekly or monthly workout calendars is a great way to plan out my workouts and to reflect on what I accomplished at the end of the month.

7. Habit Trackers

I have used these spreads to track habits related to health and fitness such as, drinking water, going to sleep early, getting my workout done, as well as other habits that I wanted to implement like cleaning, practicing a skill, etc. Each day that I completed the task I was able to color a box to keep track of how many days in a row I was successful. Like the name suggests, this is a great way to create healthy habits!
